Love this shop and these guys..! Always a great experience !!
They definitely know their stuff! and provide very trustworthy service.
I have gone to Porbug for years. And every time I go, I somehow leave even more impressed than the time before. Today was no exception. I drive a '91 VW Vanagon, which has been put back together a time or two by the Porbug team. While getting an oil change today, I mentioned I have been hearing a clunk-clunk coming from my back-right wheel every so often when I accelerate or drive uphill. I took my van to Les Schwab with the same question but Les had no solution. After a test drive, "Just keep an eye on it" was their recommendation. One mention to George and Jason at Porbug, they reached up, inspected the seating of the van's axle and identified the CV joint was bad. They then inspected the other three and noticed all four needed replacement. Problem identified! Victory. George then asks, "How much time do you have? We can replace these now if you want." Naturally, I said, "Yes, please!" Not only can Porbug troubleshoot and identify problems that other shops cannot but they have the customer service at heart to fix the problem on the fly. I thank Porbug for another awesome example of brilliance and truly appreciate all of their assistance through the years. Keep up the great work, guys!
George is the MAN. From his days back down by the Rainier Brewery taking care or my old Thing(s), to now in Edmonds with my Syncro - there is no one more thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. And now with Jason on board the past several years - what a team!
I bought my '82 van in '96 and George and his son kept it running and in good shape for me until I moved out of state. The list of things that have been replaced is just about everything mechanical, two engines, gas tank, wheel bearings, CV joints, speedometer, custom installation of oil pressure and engine temperature gauges, oil cooler with radiator. The only thing left is the transmission and it's been holding on.
George and Jason have been taking care of my Vanagon Westfalia for over five years now. For the first time in my 70+ years I can recommend an auto repair shop without any hesitation or reservation. Always good work, always fair in pricing and always ready to go the extra mile. Porbug is absolutely the best VW shop in the greater Seattle area.

After lots of advice and debate, my '88 Westy needed a rebuild...sigh. From Portland, I considered local well regarded shops but decided to send it via AAA Premier to George and Jason. I'm very glad I did. This team of two were respectful, expert, honest, professional, friendly and reasonably priced. They made sure I knew what was happening and why. They use AA Transaxle for their transmissions (which is good). How do I know this? While they were working on the engine, they saw that the transmission fluid had not been changed or added to since I'd owned the van because the bolt wouldn't come off. So my reputable Portland shops had been passing me along saying the fluids had been changed when they hadn't. After all the miles, it could have resulted a transmission failure on the road. I wasn't eager to spend the money but I was very relieved to have my van taken care of so thoroughly. This is not a shop that tries to crowd as many people through as possible. They work with you and take good care. I will make the trek yearly for service. Nice people, expert repair, clean shop, fair prices. They do things right.
George and Jason are really great people who are also outstanding mechanics. My wife and I just brought our 1985 Weekender to the shop for a buyers inspection and the results weren't stellar but....the guys walked us through everything and even fixed a few things while doing the inspection. The shop is really tidy and organized which makes me feel that's the same way they will treat our van and our patronage. I am so happy to have found Porbug and will be using it for all of our service.
Thanks for the friendly service, quality work, and recognizing your customers on the road!
Not so much a review - but wanted to share this photo with you from one of the last times I was there:

George and his son run a great shop. Honest and great at what they do. He kept my 2000 TDI golf running for 260K miles until i upgraded to a 2007 GTI--which he takes care of now! Best VW mechanic around. THANKS GEORGE!
Nobody is perfect, but how you handle the few mistakes that pop up says Worlds about you.
I had George replace the rear brakes on my 87 Vanagon Syncro along with both front wheel bearings. I picked the Van up on a Friday afternoon and drove home. Later that evening, I pulled on the parking brake lever and it suddenly let go with the lever coming way up and would not hold.
I called Saturday morning and left a message that we would be dropping the Van off and would call on Monday to discuss the problem. When I arrived at the shop Saturday, George was there at the gate to meet me and immediately put the Van on the lift. He found the minor mistake and had it fixed and back together in 30 minutes while I waited.
I don't know of ANY shop that would do that for any customer especially on a Saturday when they were closed.
Like I said, it says a lot about the integrity of George and Porbug. I will definitely return when I need more help.
